Labels and documents

Updated

Pak-Bot will generate your labels

Pak-Bot generated labels

You can ask your consultant for new label designs, do it yourself (see below), or ask Pak-Bot to do it for you. Tap the "Upload design" button at top right of the screen, or prompt Pak-Bot with "New label".

DYNAMIC LABEL WITH CHANGING DATA
Pak-Bot will insert "Tags" into your label design, when you print the label the Tags are replaced with live data, for example an Inventory number, Pallet number, Pack date, Customer Name etc.

STATIC LABEL THAT WON'T CHANGE
Pak-Bot will design the label to look just like your sample document, without changing data, this type of label is best for printing labels days or hours before packing.

GIVE ME ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Type anything here to help Pak-Bot create your label design, for example:
* Make all text bold
* Don't insert any images
* Use the design on page 12-14 of the enclosed document

After Pak-Bot generates your label, you can ask for further changes, or tap the edit icon to manually adjust your label. Use the History icon at top right if you want to revert your label design to a previous version.

Using the label designer

DIY LabelsEach label or document must be inside one table.

You can copy an existing label or create a new one using the + icon a top right. Its usually fastest to use Pak-Bot to create your label, then edit. For complicated labels we recommend you use MS Word in Rich Text mode.

Go to Settings > "Labels & documents":
On the Update Design screen (tap the edit icon to open this screen):
1. If you are creating a new document, insert a table.

  1. Add rows and columns to the table, and resize them as needed.
  2. Set the focus inside a cell of the table, and use the "Insert tag here" box to show data at that location.
  3. Set focus in a cell and tap the image icon to show an image.
  4. Tap the Preview icon to see your document with data in it.

AUTOMATICALLY MAKE TEXT SMALLER
Often you want the Part name on a label to be as large as possible, do this by setting its font size. However, some Parts have very long names, add the following so Producepak will reduce the font size to 20 if the Part is 30 characters or more (this works with all tags): Eg:
[Part.Name*30*20]

IMAGES
If you insert an image that is too large, at the end of the image tag, add *100 for example, this will reduce the image so the largest dimension is 100 pixels. Eg:
[CImages:/34273/My-image.jpeg*100]

SHOW DATA THAT YOU CAN'T FIND A TAG FOR
If you need to show data that isn't already in the tag list, ask your consultant.

Make a mistake or break your document?

Tap the History icon at top right to revert your document to a previous version.

Printing advice

If you print many labels from one workstation, we recommend you use a Windows device, iOS and Android have terrible printing support built into their operating systems.

MY DOCUMENT IS PRINTING THE WRONG WAY!
On your printer device drivers, select rotate or change the orientation, OR go to Producepak > Settings > Labels & documents > select Rotate on each document that you think is printing the wrong way. More hints on printing.

CHAIN TRACE
Print a barcode on your BOL/Invoice/inventory or pallet label for delivery confirmation / customer feedback / proof of shipment / quality / or marketing purposes. Ask your consultant to set this up for you.

PRINTING BARCODES
For a barcode to be readable, you should use a thermal printer that has a 300+DPI resolution.

PRINTING ON ANDROID OR IOS
Printing support is utterly substandard on these operating systems, follow these instructions to install PrintNode to print from these devices.

PRINT LABELS USING GTIN AND DETAILS FROM YOUR CUSTOMER

  1. Ask your consultant to confirm you have a compatible label
  2. From Settings > Part > More Details > "Price"

* Select Show Details value "GTIN"
* Select the customer Company
* Optionally select Part category of the Parts you pack for this customer
* Optionally select a Part category
* Tap Search

In the grid at the bottom of the page enter the GTIN for each Part you pack for this customer. TAP THE SAVE BUTTON to save your data.

WHEN PACKING A BATCH / INVENTORY: To make the system use your customers Barcode details, select "Bill To Company" OR "Pack for company" (from the edit Batch or Create Inventory screens).
